Learning Standards are developmentally appropriate research based standards that help guide programs with curriculum and lesson planning. Beginning at a STAR 2, programs integrate the standards within their curriculum and maintain on-site as a resource for teachers and families.
Approved Curriculum – Quality Early Learning environments are essential for children’s growth and development in such areas as cognitive, social-emotional, language, and fine and gross motor areas. Assessment Tools – Completing authentic, developmentally appropriate assessments is a critical piece in high quality early learning programs. Pennsylvania state-funded programs are required to use an approved assessment to assess and monitor a child’s developmental progress. This link provides a list of OCDEL approved assessment tools:

Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC) provides on-site support including observation, social and emotional and/or development screening, development of an individualized action plan, referral to additional community supports, and facility-wide professional development.
